SUMMARY:Numerica Performing Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Featured Event: Hot August Nights presents the musical\, 1776.\n\nHot August Nights\n1776\n\nTony Award-winning Best Musical \nDirected by Jaime Donegan\nMusic and Lyrics by Sherman Edwards\nBook by Peter Stone \nJuly 31 – August 1  \nAugust 5-8 & 12-15\nMatinees: August 8 & 15\n1776 tells the satirical story of the Second Continental Congress signing of the Declaration of Independence. We invite you to join us in “the room where it happened” and witness the good\, the bad and the ugly of the birth of America. The show will run from July 31-August 15\, 2026 at the Numerica Performing Arts Center. \n“Imagine a time and place when the Second Continental Congress is a proverbial incubator for a young country trying to find out who it is and what it is made of. This is a musical where the iconic styles of Broadway shows such as Hamilton and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson collide as John Adams and Benjamin Franklin struggle to engage this Second Continental Congress to debate the idea of America’s Independence from Great Britain. It portrays a divided and cantankerous Congress running amok as each member ‘piddles twiddles and resolves’ to get what is best for themselves and the colonies they represent\,” explained Director and Producer Jaime Donegan. “It’s messy\, it’s hilarious\, it’s dramatic and it’s timeless and timely.” \nVeterans and members of the military receive a $5/ticket discount. \nTICKETS \n\n

SUMMARY:MAC Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Featured Event: 2026 WVC Art Faculty Exhibition.\n\n\n\n\n2026 WVC Art Faculty Exhibition \nWVC MAC Gallery\nSeptember 4—October 30\nFirst Friday Reception:  September 4\, 5:00—7:00\n\nThe MAC Gallery opens the ’26/’27 school year by showing off the fruits of WVC Art Department faculty members’ professional artistic practices. The group exhibition includes creative works across a variety of media by Art Instructors Scott Bailey\, Natalie Dotzauer\, Arius Elvikis\, Ellen Bruex\, Linda Lyons\, Elena Payne\, Edgar Smith\, and Sarah Sprouse\, as well as Instructional Technicians Nik Penny and Denis DuBois.\n\n\n\n2026 WVC Art Faculty Exhibition \n\nIt is an important characteristic of WVC Art Department faculty members that\, in addition to being excellent\, caring teachers of their disciplines\, they are also high-level practitioners of their crafts. This exhibition displays the fruits of the professional art-making activities that make our art faculty members the fine artists and professors they are.  They teach with authority from a perspective of knowledge and experience\, having developed and refined their various crafts over many years.  They are all practitioners of what they preach. \n\nThese are instructors who care as deeply about their artistic integrity as they do about being educators. They recognize that their studio work provides the solid platform upon which to present their course content\, but they don’t impose their personal styles and artistic decisions upon the students.  They are caring and nurturing in the classroom\, striving to develop students with excellent fundamental skills with individual goals for their own work.\n\nThe exhibition includes pieces by Scott Bailey (Painting\, Drawing\, Art Appreciation)\, Natalie Dotzauer (Sculpture\, Drawing\, Printmaking\, Art Appreciation)\, Arius Elvikis (Graphic and Digital Design)\, Ellen Bruex (Art History\, Art Appreciation\, Drawing\, Figure Drawing)\, Linda Lyons (Digital Photography\, 2D Design\, Art Appreciation)\, Elena Payne (Graphic Design\, 2D Design)\, Edgar Smith (Drawing\, Figure Drawing\, 2D Design\, Art Appreciation)\, and Sarah Sprouse (Ceramics)\, as well as pieces by Art Department Instructional Technicians Nik Penny and Denis DuBois. Through the consistent high quality and the broad variety of styles\, media\, and conceptual concerns on display here\, viewers can see the breadth and depth of artistic experience in the WVC Art Department.
