SUMMARY:Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center
DESCRIPTION:Ubuntu: How an Ancient African Concept Can Help Human Flourishing \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is honored to have guest lecturer Dr. Itohan M. Idumwonyi\, PhD present on Ubuntu philosophy on Friday\, February 7\, 6-8 PM.  \nGonzaga University Professor Itohan M. Idumwonyi invites Washingtonians to explore Ubuntu. Ubuntu emphasizes community building\, a way to reapproach our relationships so we can break the artificial borders that separate us and look out for one another. Directing one’s own humanity to others helps us navigate beyond superficial solutions to rethink\, adapt\, and foster human interconnectedness. \nThis lecture is free to everyone. Pre-registration is recommended and can be found here. \nThe 2024-25 Film and Speaker Series is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union. This speaker event is brought to you by Humanities Washington. \n\nThe Quilt of Hope will also be on display during this event.\n\nAbout the Quilt of Hope Project: Each year\, we hold a drawing for a chance to receive our one-of-a-kind Quilt of Hope\, made from West African inspired fabrics and lovingly sewn by Hope Project partners who donate their time and talents.  The funds raised help sustain our three\, on-site vocational programs in Liberia.\n\nQuilt dimensions are 60″ x 60″. Made with West African inspired fabrics\, the front side is designed in the style of the Celtic Knots pattern.  This Quilt of Hope was created with love by Peggy Frazier\, Peggy McCune\, and Rebecca DeGaris.  We thank them for sharing their time\, hearts\, and talents to create the beautiful one-of-a-kind quilt.\n\nThis year’s drawing will be on March 5th.  Each $10 donation gives you one chance to win.  Purchase tickets here: www.hopeproject.org/quilt-of-hope
