SUMMARY:Tumbleweed
DESCRIPTION:Featured Artist: KLK Fine Arts. \nI’m an artist and Army Veteran from Gaithersburg\, Maryland. In 2008\, I joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis\, Washington. By the time I finished my contract\, I’d fallen in love with the Northwest and decided to pursue my love for painting at Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland\, OR. I got my Bachelors of Fine Art degree in 2015\, and have since turned my practice into a business as ‘KLK Fine Arts.’ \nIn 2023\, I moved from Portland\, Oregon to East Wenatchee to be with my wife\, and these paintings here represent my explorations since my arrival. I like the challenge of creating more than just a pretty picture\, but rather recreating a place that means something\, and giving it a chance to be present in my viewer’s mind in a new perspective. I believe really looking close at our surroundings can help one to slow down and better appreciate the present moment. \n

SUMMARY:Watercore Taproom
DESCRIPTION:Featured Artist: Malachi Castillote. \nThis First Friday Watercore Taproom hosts Malachi Castillote\, a gifted young artist who has dabbled in several art styles but is most well know for his remarkable graffiti style canvases. Malachi was given a terminal diagnosis of Batten’s Disease CLN2 but has not stopped creating striking and compelling works of art. Through aerosol expressionism Malachi has achieved meaningful success with art displayed and sold in the Seatle Children’s Institute and Black Lab/Bar Gallery in Everett. February is rare disease month and so it is fitting to show Malachi’s work thought the month. \nMalachi will be at Watercore from 6-8pm to connect with people interested in his works. Watercore will have food and drinks available for purchase all evening. Free admission. \nBio\nA gifted soul who connects to others through various art forms\, Malachi is an accomplished young artist who has produced original music\, dabbled in numerous art genres\, and been commissioned by diverse collectors for his remarkable graffiti-style canvases. Initially exposed to art through his mother\, who raised her children engaging in creative activities\, Malachi improved his artistic foundation as he entered a high school art course to enhance his abilities. At eighteen years old and with a promising career ahead of him\, Malachi was given a terminal diagnosis (Batten’s Disease CLN2) that would alter his life & journey through art (including tremors\, brain deuteriation\, and vision failure (currently going blind)\, just a few in a long list of abilities he will lose). Unwilling to shy away from a challenge\, Malachi saw an opportunity to pursue aerosol expressionism\, which allowed him to access untapped potential that proved to be beneficial to his already blossoming reputation as an artist. This journey has led him to tremendous successes\, including being commissioned by Nike executives for original works and donating one of his first pieces to the Seattle Children’s Adult Autism Center\, raising 5k for the organization with one art piece. Malachi has chosen to use his diagnoses and art expression to document his journey/mental health through his art. Malachi’s Art has been displayed & sold in the halls of the Seattle Children’s Institute and Black Lab Gallery /Bar in Everett. In his free time\, Malachi enjoys listening to classical piano music and producing it. He is also an avid athlete who has trained and competed in powerlifting for a Special Olympics (9-time gold medalist). Meet your artist\, Malachi Castillote\, a rare disease patient & local artist.

SUMMARY:South @ Pybus
DESCRIPTION:Ruptura de Acero \nThis First Friday\, step into steel and smoke at South. Ruptura de Acero is a mezcal-forward cocktail inspired by the monumental metal sculptures of Manuel Felguérez\, angular\, bold\, and unmistakably modern. \nMineral mezcal lays the foundation like raw industrial steel. Ancho chile brings heat and depth\, echoing oxidized metal. Blood orange and lime slice through with sharp citrus edges\, balanced by agave’s quiet sweetness. \nA cocktail shaped by art. Join us at South and taste the rupture.

SUMMARY:South @ Pybus
DESCRIPTION:This First Friday\, sip into surrealism ✨Introducing Alquimia Gris\, a cocktail inspired by La Creación de las Aves by Remedios Varo\, the Mexican surrealist known for weaving autobiography\, travel\, exile\, and quiet magic into her work. \nVaro often painted figures that mirrored herself\, exploring themes of creation\, transformation\, and inner worlds shaped by movement and displacement. Her art feels like a journey—intimate\, mysterious\, and deeply imaginative—and Alquimia Gris captures that same spirit. \nMade with tequila\, Earl Grey honey syrup\, dry vermouth\, fresh lemon juice\, and expressed orange\, this drink is layered\, thoughtful\, and a little otherworldly. \nJoin us at South this First Friday.🍸 Come taste the art. SUMMARY:South @ Pybus
DESCRIPTION:Join us this First Friday as we sip on Nocturno de Mérida\, a cocktail inspired by the work of Carlos Mérida—the Guatemalan modernist who masterfully blended European abstraction with Indigenous Mesoamerican forms\, movement\, and bold blocks of color\, creating a visual rhythm that still resonates today. \nThis effervescent drink reflects that energy and balance: sparkling wine sets the rhythm\, St-Germain adds floral elegance\, fresh lemon and cranberry juice bring brightness and depth\, and a dash of orange bitters ties it all together. Finished with a fragrant rosemary sprig and sugared cranberries\, it’s layered\, expressive\, and beautifully composed. \nCelebrate art\, culture\, and creativity with us—join us this First Friday\, raise a glass\, and experience Nocturno de Méridafor yourself.
