In her own words: \nArtist Statement \nI question my mind’s earthly sight \nAre we all not just an assemblage of creatures communing \nin this shared realm? \nA full and cosmic collective \nof quirky little beings \ndancing\, offering\, collapsing\, protecting\, holding\, creating \nA playful but tendered exhaustion \nSight lines obscured\, for the masks are heavy \nClumsy and eclipsing as we move \nLet me see you \nI want to witness \nYour subconscious \nYour shadows \nA peculiar and most strange intimacy \nto be truly seen \nThere are true faces beneath our iconographies and bodily cartographies \nInconspicuous until the light catches \nThe creatures sing together \nAn invocation of incantations \nBeckoning with attention and breath \nLet the song haunt you into presence \nAttuned attention \nLook at us \nParalyzed in time and space \nWe are the portal \nYou need no invitation \nLet us make art in these liminal times \nMay we sprinkle mythos and light on places where darkness has steeped its bitter tea \nArtist Bio \nLouise Garrie is a masked artist working at the threshold of sculpture\, assemblage\, ritual\, and myth. Her creatures emerge from the shadowed territories of memory\, identity\, and the subconscious\, places where what protects us may also obscure our sight. She offers these beings as emissaries and invitations\, believing that art can call forth truths held within both the individual soul and the collective consciousness. \nLittle is known of Garrie herself. She moves through this realm as one of her own masked creatures\, allowing the work to exist beyond biography\, expectation\, or explanation. She hopes these beings will beckon others to look beneath their own masks and create from whatever stirs there\, for she believes that\, when darkness gathers\, art is how we summon the light.
